This document contains important information about tn3270 distribution files. Please read the following carefully before using the files you have received.
Configuration notes:
1. If you are using tn3270 on a Macintosh II under MultiFinder, be sure to set the memory size for tn3270 according to the directions in section "MultiFinder and Memory Requirements" in the documentation. The memory size in the distributed version of tn3270 will NOT work well with a Macintosh II and MultiFinder, and may even crash the Mac. To change the memory size, while running Finder click on the program and select "Get Info" from the "File" menu. Then change the value shown for "Application Memory Size". Starting with version 6.0 of the Macintosh System Software, MultiFinder may also be used to change the memory size.
2. Configuration has changed from the method described in the documentation (tn3270 refguide). Configuration is now identical to version 2.3 of NCSA Telnet, with the same config.tel and NCSA Telnet Settings files being used. Refer to NCSA's documentation (NCSA Teln.8) for directions on defining those files. Briefly, configuration is performed by (1) editing config.tel to reflect the proper keyword values, and (2) holding down the mouse button after double-clicking on tn3270 the first time. This will cause tn3270 to prompt for configuration information, and create a new NCSA Telnet Settings file. These steps are not necessary if you have already created these files using NCSA Telnet.
3. For your convenience, the Documentation folder includes two chapters from the NCSA Telnet documentation which are also applicable to tn3270. These chapters describe FTP file transfer and configuration. Be careful, since some of the information does NOT apply to tn3270. This documentation will be edited before the release version of tn3270 2.3.
4. There are no known bugs when using this version of tn3270 with System 7.0. Please report any bugs you discover using tn3270 with System 7.0.
